Pastor Tracey's Bio

Rev. Tracey Breashears Schultz began serving MacArthur Park Lutheran Church on August 1, 2007 and was installed as Associate Pastor on September 23, 2007. Pastor Tracey received her B.A. in English and Spanish from the University of Arkansas in 1996 and graduated from Wartburg Theological Seminary with a M.Div degree in May, 2007. She was ordained on July 21, 2007 at First United Methodist Church in Limon, CO, the town in which she served her internship.

After college, Pastor Tracey worked as a medical software trainer for a computer company in Little Rock, Arkansas. This teaching experience prepared her for her next position, which was as Spanish Teacher at Christ Lutheran Junior High School, also in Little Rock. She served as a translator for a number of medical mission teams to Mexico before leaving teaching in 2003 to pursue her M.Div.

Of her seminary coursework, Pastor Tracey most enjoyed liturgy, preaching, and Hebrew Bible classes. Her summer (2004) as a hospital chaplain at Heartland Regional Medical Center in Saint Joseph, MO was equally formative, as was her internship at Zion Lutheran Church in Limon, CO.

Pastor Tracey was raised in Escondido, CA, but her family now lives in Houston, TX. She loves to spend her free time with her niece and nephew. She also likes to bake, sing, scrapbook, exercise, read, do yoga, speak Spanish, and drink Starbucks coffee.

Pastor Tracey is happily married to Chris Schultz, a UT grad and local architect. They make their home in northeast San Antonio with their two cats, Dixie (a thirteen-year-old Calico who is quite a diva) and Emsie Lou (a now-pudgy stray Pastor Tracey rescued from the sanctuary roof on Epiphany Sunday 2008).

Pastor Tracey is a doctoral student in the ACTS D.Min. in Preaching Program, Class of 2014.

She is excited about her ministry at MacArthur Park and is passionate about many things, but especially about the gospel.
